Sorghum Cover Crop Seeds

(7′) Sorghum produces more organic matter than any other cover crop. The dense growth chokes out weeds and breaks up hard-packed soil. Reduces parasitic nematode populations. Sorghum can be planted with vetch in a 1:4 ratio to improve the soil. Plant in late spring once soil is warm. Great for green mulch in orchards, mow to keep height manageable. Once established sorghum thrives during hot weather and on dry soil. Sorghum also makes good hay for horse and cattle. The plants are not cold tolerant. Soil must be 65ºF or above for germination.
