Romanesco Italian Artichoke features “chokes” that are large and round with lots of edible flesh. They are greenish-purple with excellent flavor. The plants are compact and high yielding. In warm climates or with winter protection they can produce for 4-5 years. This is a very old variety and will have a small percentage of off types that should be rogued out.
