Cylindrical club-ended fruits measuring up to 60 cm in length and weighing on average between 15-20 kg. Outer green skin with grey stripes and deep orange pulp containing very few seeds. This popular cooking variety, part of the Mediterranean diet, can be used in soups or as a side dish (baked in the oven and then dressed with oil and vinegar)

Sowing: From April to July in holes spaced 1.5 m apart. Place 4 or 5 seeds in each hole, later thinning out the shoots to leave the strongest plant.




FROM OUR SEED CATALOG:
  • (Winter Squash) Fruits are green with grey marking. Orange flesh has few seeds. Frequently used in Mediterranean cooking, in soups or baked and seasoned with oil and vinegar.

    175-300/oz. 10 days, 72F. Sow directly into peat pots or packs and flats. Germinate, then grow on at 70°F. Will have a saleable plant in about 3-5 weeks.

ESPAÑOL:
Frutos cilíndricos que acaban en forma de porra y que pueden alcanzar los 80cm con un peso medio de 15-20 Kg. y de olor verde con estrías grises. Pulpa de color naranja intenso con muy pocas semillas. Muy apreciada en la cocina, en la dieta mediterránea para la  preparación de sopas o bien cocida al horno y aliñada con aceite y vinagre como guarnición de platos especiales.

Siembra: Se efectúa "a montoncitos" de abril a julio, a una distancia de 1.5 m de hoyo a hoyo y poniendo 4-5 semillas por cada hoyo, teniendo cuidado de espaciar cuando haya nacido, para fortalecer la planta.
