This unique Italian vegetable/gourd will grow to 2-3' (60-90cm) in length. Plants grow like squash or may be trellised. Fruits can be eaten when picked half-ripe. Has rich, full flavor. Cook like squash or fry like eggplant. Delicious baked with fresh tomatoes, sprinkled with basil and olive oil. For a delicious treat, dip blossoms in batter and fry. Fruits become hard-shelled gourds at maturity.

Sowing: Sow seeds in a sunny location when all danger lf frost is past, or indoors 3-4 week before the last frost. Press seed into soil and keep it moist.
Care: Water regularly and fertilize when lateral runners begin to spread.
Harvest: To eat pick when fruits are small. For gourds allow fruits to ripen on the vine. Pick carefully.



FROM OUR SEED CATALOG:
  • Young fruits (6” or less) can be eaten like cucumber or summer squash. Grows to 45” long and 4-5” in diameter. 54 days.

    175-300/oz. 10 days, 72F. Sow directly into peat pots or packs and flats. Germinate, then grow on at 70°F. Will have a saleable plant in about 3-5 weeks.
