El muy conocido arbusto siempre verde alto casi un metro, muy ramificado, con ramas erectas, hojas lineales olorosas, tiene durante toda la buena estación capullos o flores con pequeñas florescencias. El cáliz es bilabiado con el labio superior entero o con tres dientes pequeñísimos, el inferior dividido en dos largos dientes. La corola es de un color violeta-azul pálido, los estambres son dos, que sobresalen de la corola.
