Icebox size watermelon. One of the sweetest and earliest melons with very small seeds. Fruit are round and 8” with a weight of 8-12 lbs. Dark-green rind with bloom over stripes. Flesh is bright-red, fine-grained and very flavorful. Excellent for home gardens and is guaranteed to sell well in markets. Great in New England’s short season. 84 days.

When and where to plant: For earlier crop, start seeds indoors 3-4 weeks before night temperatures stay above 55F/12C and daytime temperatures stay above 80F/27C, then set out. For later crop, sow directly outdoors in a sunny location after weather warms. Grows best in light, porous soil. Cultivate and enrich with vegetable food and organic matter. Firm soil over seed.
Care: Mulch to conserve moisture and feed every 3 weeks..
Harvest: Pick when ripe.

8 days, 70-72F. Standard varieties have seed and are diploid. Sow seeds directly into packs, peat pots or directly in the field. 3-4 lbs. per acre. Well drained soil is best, plants need adequate water from seeding until they start blooming.
