Marigolds are among the most popular and easiest to grow annuals, blooming all summer until fall frost. This dwarf, French type, produces small yellow and orange flowers that resemble miniature carnations. Ideal in borders, edgings, in masses or in containers.
Plant: Sow seeds directly in a sunny location after all danger of frost is past, or indoor 5-6 weeks earlier. Barely cover seeds and keep moist. Care: Plants tolerate a little dryness and ordinary garden soil. Excessive feeding and watering encourages foliage growth instead of flowers. Tip: Bait to prevent damage to young plants from snails, slugs and earwigs.
