Italian Collection of Vegetable Seed Open PollinatedWhat do these symbols mean?
(Torpedo Onion)
Intermediate day. Long-growing late variety producing a large pear-shaped bulb whose necks are light red on the outside and pinkish-white on the inside. Popular when consumed fresh thanks to its very tender sweet bulbs. This variety does not keep particularly well.

It is important to plant onions that are adapted to your area. This is an intermediate-day/long-day onion, it requires 12-14 hours of daylight at the end of its growth cycle to bulb up. Intermediate day onions can be grown in all states except for southern states. In northern states it matures early, in the middle states it matures later.

10 days, 70ºF. Sow directly into packs or pots. Grow at 55ºF night temperature. Saleable plants in 6-8 weeks. Cut plants half way back if they stretch.

Sowing: In autumn with replanting in January of February. Alternatively it can be planted directly outdoors in January-February and harvested in June-July.
