Qty:  
One of the most popular eggplant varieties, this variety is known for its large, plump, deep purplish-black fruits. Plants grow 2'-3' (60-90cm) tall and produce several fruits. Delicious fried, in casseroles and several ethnic dishes. Plants are ornamental enough to use in the flower garden; good also in containers.

Sowing: For best result, sow indoors 8-10 weeks before the last spring frost. Shift seedlings to individual pots and grow in full sun. Harden before transplanting to garden 2-3 weeks after the last frost.
Care: Water regularly and fertilize when plants are 6" (15cm) tall and again in mid-summer.
Harvest: Cut from plant when glossy and dark purple and about 6"-8" (15-20cm) long. Skin should not spring back when pressed with thumb.
Your health: Supplies small amounts of fiber, potassium and other vitamins and minerals.
