Often referred to as the Italian dandelion, it is no wonder that this Italian descent is a gourmet salad delight! Primarily used raw, mix chicory greens in salads to add a tangy flavor contrast. Flavor is mildest when the greens mature during cool weather.

Sowing: Select a sunny location where the soil is loose and well drained. Sow in May or June for a fall harvest in the northern regions For best results time plantings to mature during cool weather. Where winters are mild, continue to sow throughout the summer for harvest from fall to sprig.
Care: Thin young seedlings, transplanting the strongest to other locations. Water lightly but regularly and fertilize when plants have 10-12 leaves. Protect from pests.
Harvest: As needs, cut a few outer leaves randomly off plants. Leave a stump to promote resprouting.
