This cool weather bean is much hardier than other beans and grows well in short season areas. In mild winter areas they are planted in the fall for a spring crop. Plants grow 3-41/2' (9-1.3m), producing attractive purple and white blossoms before the large pods develop. Cook like Limas. Enjoy fresh, dried, frozen or canned.
Sowing: Select sunny location and plant outdoors in early spring or in fall in mild winter areas. For best results, loosen soil with spade or fork and smooth with rake. Firm soil over seed and keep moist. Care: Water by soaking soil. Harvest: Pods may be harvested when seeds are pea-sized but are normally allowed to reach full growth. Your Health: A protein-rich source of minerals and vitamins.
